The Audit Manager/Assistant Manager is a pivotal figure in the firm’s strategy and is instrumental to the Audit and Assurance division. The Audit Manager/Assistant Manager is responsible for developing and growing client relationships, plan and lead project teams and deliver seamless client and staff experience on all audit engagements. The Audit Manager/Assistant Manager is a leading face of Baker Tilly for our people and clients and should uphold exemplary standards and highest ethical behavior.
The Audit Manager/Assistant Manager is a thorough professional with deep technical expertise who is responsible for: (i) overseeing and managing the end-to-end audit engagement process; (ii) managing people growth and talent retention through continuous delivery of learning and education initiatives and while instilling discipline in the day-to-day work of our people; (iii) manage, nurture and grow strong client relationship; (iv) supporting Leadership to administer the audit practice from a broader organizational perspective and in adherence to set organizational, business and technical delivery KPIs.Â
It is expected that the Audit Manager/Assistant Manager is a fully qualified ACCA/ACA or equivalent professional with in-depth knowledge and technical expertise on International Standards on Auditing (ISAs); International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS); International Standard on Quality Management (ISQM); and local and relevant regulatory framework.
The Audit Manager/Assistant Manager will be working in a dynamic environment and is expected to have fast learning ability and adapt to the complex and ever evolving dynamics of the audit and assurance practice.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage audit engagements by defining audit strategy in consultation with Audit Leadership team.
- Execute audit strategy & plan in compliance with Baker Tilly's policies and protocols.
- Depending on engagement risk, the Manager/Assistant Manager may be required to execute specific audit procedures.
- Manage end-to-end audit process & portfolio KPIs for allocated client portfolio.
- Manage engagement project dynamics efficiently to achieve corporate targets on engagement and recovery.
- Holistic annual portfolio planning and allocation of audit workforce in collaboration with Leadership team.
- Allocate responsibilities to associates and junior auditors for every assigned portfolio.
- Monitor engagement progress, delivery and quality against the plan and course correct where required.
- Take responsibility to deliver the highest level of audit quality while meeting client and statutory deadlines.
- Manage effective risk and control assessments for every engagement.
- Manage engagement quality through timely documentation and review of audit procedures on Caseware.
- Timely review work of team members and audit evidence to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality.
- Provide continuous on-the-job training and constructive feedback to team members for every engagement.
- Provide timely and formal performance reviews to staff after every engagement sign-off.
- Develop people by encouraging individuals to think for themselves and take responsibility of the team.
- Complete audits on time and submit electronic audit file and reports for Senior Management & Partner review.
- Coach and develop staff through constant on-the-job training to develop their technical competencies.
- The Manager must continuously adopt self-learning techniques and develop as a reference for all technical audit matters.
- Contribute to developing technical papers and articles for publication.
- Develop and deliver technical training to internal and external audiences annually.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with other assurance and cross lines of teams.
- Develop and maintain productive client relationships and networks.
- Cultivate and manage business development by generating new business opportunities and leads.
- Responsible for management and control of audit administration in relation to client portfolio, including management of project budgets, recovery, costs overruns, billing, and debt collections.
Requirements and skills
- At least 6 years of past audit experience for Audit Assistant Managers
- At least 8 years of past audit experience for Audit Managers.
- Prior management experience in audit practice or experience in managing assigned client portfolio and people.
- ACCA/ACA fully qualified or equivalent qualification.
- Skillful and experienced in complex project management.
- Good time management skills.

- Ability to design, prepare and deliver presentations to a broad audience.
