The Manager/Assistant Manager for Risk Consulting plays a crucial role in Baker Tilly’s growth strategy. This position is key to executing the department's and firm's strategy by providing strong leadership, guidance to the team, and assisting in managing client engagements, departmental functions, and management expectations. The Manager/Assistant Manager for Risk Consulting is a professional responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end engagement process, people and talent, learning and education, client relationship, and administration of the Internal Audit, AML/CFT and Risk Consulting engagements.
The Manager/Assistant Manager for Risk Consulting will be a qualified ACCA/ACA/CIA/CISA or have equivalent professional qualifications with in-depth knowledge and technical expertise on Risk Management methodologies and compliance with laws and regulations such as the FIAMLA 2002, Data protection Act 2007 and COSO framework.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct and lead risk consulting engagements across various industries, focusing on Internal Audit, AML/CFT Audits, Operational Excellence and Process Improvements, among others.
- Support clients in preparing for ISAE 3402 audits, helping them meet the control objectives and reporting requirements.
- Provide advisory services on GDPR and other data protection regulations, including gap analyses and compliance framework development.
- Assist in the development and execution of client-specific compliance programs, including identifying gaps, risks, and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Manage client engagements from planning to execution, ensuring high-quality service delivery and adherence to timelines.
- Prepare and review audit reports, ensuring findings are clearly communicated to clients and align with regulatory requirements.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, maintaining strong professional relationships and addressing their specific regulatory and compliance needs.
- Stay up to date with emerging regulations and industry best practices, ensuring clients are informed of any significant changes.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior staff, promoting best practices in risk management and compliance.
Requirements and skills
- At least 6 years of experience in Risk Consulting or equivalent.
- At least 8 years of experience in Risk Consulting or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Law, Business Administration, or related field. A master’s degree or additional certifications are a plus; and/or
- Professional certifications such as ACCA/ACA/CIA/CISA/ACFE/CAMS.
- Ability to lead and deliver on internal audit, ISAE 3402, AML/CFT, and risk consulting engagement.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, including FIAMLA, GDPR, ISAE 3402 standards, and internal audit best practices.
- Proven ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously while maintaining a high level of quality and client satisfaction.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and assess risk across various industries.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in report writing and presenting to clients.
- Proficiency in using risk management tools and audit software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally, as required by client engagements. Good time management skills.
